Hindu Wisdom

It is true that we can and should enjoy the world. But let Mother ask a

question. If we drive in the road wherever we feel like it, won’t there

be accidents? The world is like a road and our life is like a vehicle.

Just as we are observing certain rules of the road for the good of

ourselves and others, we should observe the rules laid down by the Lord

so that we will reach the goal of Realization quickly and safely. A

bottle of vitamin tonic has instructions written on it as regards

dosage. We should neither take more than the prescribed dose nor less.

Otherwise, the desired effect will not be gained. Likewise, the rules of

spirituality aim at regulating our life in a balanced and beneficial

way. If we eat too much chocolate, we will get sick to our stomach. If

we turn up the heat too much in our room, we will feel enervated.

Similarly, excessive enjoyment will do us harm. By following a moderate

course, we will be able to reach our goal.

Hindu Wisdom

If one man makes a mistake, should everybody else imitate him? If one

man becomes a thief, should others also become thieves? In any case, if

one steals anything, he will be punished. Therefore, what we should do

is try to remove our ignorance as quickly as possible, whatever others

may be doing. This life is a blessing for us to work for that.

Ten Steps to Loving Yourself
1. Stop all Criticism- Criticism never changes a thing. Refuse to
criticize yourself. Accept yourself exactly as you are. Everybody
changes. When you criticize yourself, your changes are negative. When
you approve of yourself your changes are positive.

2. Don't Scare Yourself-Stop terrorizing yourself with your thoughts.
Find a mental image that gives you pleasure and immediately switch
your thoughts to pleasant one's.

3.Be Gentle, Kind and Patient- treat yourself with patience,
gentleness and kindness. Treat yourself as you would someone whom you
loved.

4. Be Kind to Your Mind-Self-hatred is only hating your own thoughts.
Gently change your thoughts to more loving ones.

5. Praise Yourself-Criticism breaks down the inner spirit. Praise
builds it. Tell yourself how well you are doing with everything.

6. Support Yourself-Reach out to friends and allow them to help you.
It is being strong to ask for help when you need it most.

7.Be Loving to Your Negatives-Acknowled ge that you created them to
fulfill a need. Now you are finding new positive ways to fulfill those
needs. Release the old patterns.

8. Take Care of Your Body-Learn about nutrition. What does your body
need to have the optimum energy and vitality? Learn about exercise.
Cherish the temple you live in.

9. Mirror Work-Look into your eyes often. Express the growing sense of
love you feel for yourself. Forgive yourself for all as you look into
the mirror. Once a day say "I love you" at yourself in the mirror.

10. Do It Now-Don't wait till you get well, lose weight or get a new
job. Begin now, do the best you can.

Ego is the source of a lot of conflict and dissension because it pushes you in the direction of making other people wrong. When you're hostile, you've disconnected from the power of intention. The creative Spirit is kind, loving, and receptive; and free of anger, resentment, or bitterness. Letting go of your need to be right in your discussions and relationships is like saying to ego, I'm not a slave to you. I want to embrace kindness, and I reject your need to be right. In fact, I'm going to offer this person a chance to feel better by saying that she's right, and thank her for pointing me in the direction of truth.

When you let go of the need to be right, you're able to strengthen your connection to the power of intention. But keep in mind that ego is a determined combatant. I've seen people willing to die rather than let go of being right. I've seen people end other-wise beautiful relationships by sticking to their need to be right. I urge you to let go of this ego-driven need to be right by stopping yourself in the middle of an argument and asking yourself, Do I want to be right or be happy? When you choose the happy, loving spiritual mode, your connection to intention is strengthened. These moments ultimately expand your new connection to the power of intention. The universal Source will begin to collaborate with you in creating the life you were intended to live.
This suggestion includes expecting kindness and love along with beauty to be in your life by deeply loving yourself, your surroundings, and by showing reverence for all of life. There's always something beautiful to be experienced wherever you are. Right now, look around you and select beauty as your focus. This is so different from habitually being alert for ways to feel hurt, angry, or offended. Expecting beauty helps you perceive the power of intention in your life.

CHENNAI: Fifteen-year-old M.Tech student at Madras-IIT, S. Chandra Sekar, the youngest engineering graduate in the country, will receive a package of grants worth over Rs. 7 lakh from the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for his education.

The global IT services and consulting firm announced on Thursday it would support the professional aspirations of the boy. The grant covers tuition fees, research activities, technology infrastructure support, global project experience and mentoring from senior executives at TCS.

Talking to The Hindu from Mumbai, where Chandra Sekar had gone to receive the cheque from TCS CEO S. Ramadorai, the youngster said though he was looking for financial support for his education, the best part of the TCS package was the assistance he would get for his research project in information security. ``I am also happy that I will be getting ideas from senior people there, and have access to their labs," he said. He will start his research in the second year of his M.Tech.

In addition to his costs at IIT-Madras, TCS will also support the student's research, travel and project expenses that will allow him to explore his ideas and interact with the global academic and research community, said a press release from the company. The association between TCS and Chandra Sekar also represents a new model for collaboration to develop R&D talent in the country. Chandra Sekar's research interests in the areas of computer network security and cryptology are in keeping with TCS' own R&D efforts in these areas. This will allow Chandra Sekar to work on global projects.
